Privatise Temple Security

The inevitable happened again.  A stampede at a Hindu temple left a lot of people dead.  And as usual, the government of the state in which this happened is taking flak for not providing security. 

But why should this happen? Why should a government, any government, be responsible for providing crowd control facilities to religious institutions?

Temples that attract large crowds tend to make a lot of money in the form of donations.  This money obviously comes from their visitors.  Let the temples then spend some of this money to hire private security and para-medics to tend to the visitors.

There is no reason why people who don’t go to temples should be forced to part with their tax money to pay for those who do.

Who’s Responsible For the Bank Crisis?

Much has been written blaming financial institutions for the recent financial crisis.  Some have gone to the extent of labelling banks as greedy.  Maybe so, but the part played by home buyers must also be examined.

For years, people have been buying homes without knowing how they are going to pay for them.  They knew that they did not have the money to pay for these homes but the lure of ownership proved too much to resist.  It was too tempting not to “dream The American Dream.”

Part of the blame must be borne by these folk.  There’s no such thing as a free lunch.  When you consume without creating an equal value to pay for it, you must one day suffer the consequences.

“Us” Against “Them” Forever And Ever

Naxal Watch has published an article attempting to rationalize the initiation of violence by Hindu organisations.

They forget that the people who they list as prosecutors of Hindus died centuries ago.  It is a grave miscarriage of justice to use acts commited by people long died to justify violence against people living today.

In their orgy of collectivism they forget that people are individuals, responsible neither for the misdeeds of their ancestors, nor of their descendents, nor of their co-religionists provided they do not condone those acts.

In their rant against the “Marxist” media, they forget that the primary flaw of Marxism is to view people as mere units completely determined by the membership of a social class.  A trap into which Naxal Watch, in it’s defence of Hindu terrorists, has fallen.

In their objection to the conversion of “innocent” Hindus, they forget that the Hindus are converting by choice.  At last look, religious conversions were still permitted by the law.

Lastly, they forget that there is nothing unpatriotic about not toeing the line of Hindu organizations.

This blog still stands by it’s earlier view that militant Hinduism is just as much of a threat to civilization as militant Islam or any other religion driven by the passion of it’s own unfalliable superiority.

The writer of this blog is proud to say that he is neither Hindu, nor Muslim, nor Christian, nor Marxist but an individualist.

Oscar Fernandes Should Resign

On the 22nd of September, L.K. Chaudhary, the CEO of an Indian company, was lynched by former employees of his factory.  Justifying the muder, Oscar Fernandes, Labour Minister in the Government of India said:

“There are disparities in the wages of permanent employees and contract workers. The workers should not be pushed so hard that they resort to whatever that had happened in Noida,”

The law is meant to protect the rights of the individual and when a minister in a government inverts this principle and defends instead the violation of rights then that minister is unfit for office.

Therefore, Mr. Fernandes should be asked to step down from his post immediately.

The Mark of Mediocrity

Joe Biden says:

“”We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Biden said. Of those who would pay more, he said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

A person who wants something from other people, not by trading values but by appropriation, is a mediocrity.  This is true even if that person invokes the Holy Cow of Patriotism.

We Will Survive

Comes the news that human artifacts are being recoved from melting glaciers.

Means at some point in the past, temperatures were as high as they are now.  For obvious reasons, they cannot have been high because of human activity.

And from that we can further reason that:

1. Perhaps the current increase in temperatures also have natural causes like climate cycles.
2. Humans once faced temperatures higher, it is argued, than they were a few centuries ago, and survived.

The moral of the story is – The Earth is Fine.  Save Yourself.

The Man From S.A.F.E.

The Head of the All India Tennis Association says that India is safe:

“This is absolutely not on, it is ridiculous,” Khanna told Reuters on Tuesday. “I don’t think any sensible Indian would say the country was not safe.”

• This for a country where serial bomb blasts are common:
  • Bangalore
  • Hyderabad
  • Surat
  • Ahmedabad
  • Jaipur
• A country where medieval pogroms still happen: Orissa pogrom
• A country where all and sundry take to street violence whenever they feel unhappy.
• A country where you have to go through metal detectors to enter movie halls, malls and markets.
• A country where women are raped in the building of the very organization meant to investigate crime.
• A country where policemen rape children.
• A country where it take the Supreme Court to point out that nobody has the right to rape a woman.

This is an incomplete record for less than the two years past but it makes clear that India is a violent and terribly unsafe country.

The deeper question is what degree of mental evasion lets people shut their eyes to the truth?
