Dragon Attack

In The Bad on April 9, 2008 at 10:07 pm

TimeOnline reports that the blue clad Chinese who run along with the Olympic torch are members of a paramilitary offshoot of the Chinese army (or is that really the People’s army?)

Given all the protests that are taking place, every country though which the torch passes is allowing foreign soldiers the right to attack it’s own citizens on it’s own soil!

After this, there should be no more talk of national sovreignity.

Please everyone, bow to the dragon.

The Unprinciped Olympics (or Chinese Dhimmitude)

Here are the words:

“We recognize the right for people to protest and express their views, but it should be nonviolent. We are very sad for all the athletes and the people who expected so much from the run and have been spoiled of their joy,” Rogge said.

Here is the meaning:

We can accept violence from the Chinese govermnent with mild protests but please don’t spoil our joy – even if the to gain that joy we become complicit in helping a police state crack down on people demanding a little bit of freedom.  Even if we help this police state pretend that by hosting the Olympics it is part of the free world.

Wake up, Mr. Rogge. There are things in the world that are bigger than Olympic games and running a few moments with a torch in your hand.

Things such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Such things are not possible in a brutal dictatorship.  But then, maybe Mr. Rogge doesn’t understand principles.
